Code Update Theme Consultation - Monitors

We’re updating the Checklist and Guidance for our Code of Considerate Practice to make it clearer, more practical, and better supported with tools and resources. This update is based on feedback from monitors, SME contractors, and partners through surveys, workshops, and interviews.

What’s changing?

• Themes and Guidance: We’ve regrouped checklist items into clearer themes under the three pillars – Community, Environment, Workforce – with simplified language and outcome-focused expectations.
• Toolkit Support: Research showed a strong need for practical resources. We’re introducing a CCS Toolkit for each theme, including templates, signposting to external guidance, and examples of good practice.
• Collaboration: We want your input to make these changes relevant and effective.

How you can help:

• Comment on the proposed themes for each pillar – tell us what you think about the list of themes, what works and what needs improvement.
• Suggest resources you already use or recommend for promoting compliance and good practice in the current checklist on either the Best Practice Hub or from the wider industry. We want to collect all of these and embed them in the guidance. And, if you have any ideas for resources/templates/how to guides that are missing or that CCS should produce, let us know what’s missing.
• Volunteer to help create the guidance – if you’d like to help write practical guidance for specific themes, select your top choices. (Please note: not everyone will be able to participate, so pick the areas you’re most passionate about.)

Your feedback will help us create a Code that is fit for purpose, scalable for different project types, and supported by tools that make compliance easier for everyone.

• Amber = Existing theme with minor changes, additions or regrouping
