St James Group, White City Living, for the initiative: “Mental Health Awareness Week and Engagement”

Helping lift the stigma associated with mental illness and get people talking, St James Group, part of the Berkeley Group, launched a series of initiatives to support over 500 workers, sub-contractors and supply chain at its White City Living development in London. Coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Week, activities included: a toolbox talk focussed on mental health and anxiety in the workplace; open drop-in sessions with trained Mental Health First Aiders; free fruit and cheaper healthier meals in the canteen; and a ‘bring a mate and get a free coffee’ promotion. Surpassing all expectations, the initiatives went a long way to encourage discussion and raise awareness, spurring the development of a new safety board featuring topics including mental health.
