In a pledge to provide accessible job opportunities at its White City Living development in West London, St James Group has undertaken a substantial recruitment drive targeting unemployed people living in and around the site. The initiative focussed on community engagement with schools, colleges and charities to promote apprenticeships and work placements to a diverse range of local people. Organisations include: West London College; Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith Job Centre; The Skills Centre; and Key4Life, a charity that helps rehabilitate ex-offenders. Since the project started St James Group has employed 190 residents, 52 apprentices, and provided 39 traineeships upskilling each person with a CSCS card, boosting the local economy and giving a much needed lifeline to people at the very heart of the site.
