Sewell Construction Ltd, West Hull Health Hub

“The Journey Starts Now” is an initiative created by Sewell Construction at its West Hull Health Hub Project to engage with the site team and subcontractors on the importance of mental health and wellbeing. Aiming to deliver health benefits from the outset, it was important that the initiative would make a difference beyond project completion. Raising awareness through toolbox talks, inductions, workshops, online training and ‘open door’ policies, the initiative was able to reach Sewell’s own employees as well as the entire supply chain including smaller contractors without the capacity to roll out their own initiatives on the same scale. The project has helped break the stigma associated with men’s mental health, and made a meaningful impact across the wider construction business.
