L&Q, Walthamstow Stadium Legacy Works, for the initiative: “Green Site, Good Site”

Encouraging its team to ‘Think Green’, residential developer and housing association L&Q have implemented a Reduce, Reuse and Recycle programme. Based at its Goodwood Apartments development in Walthamstow, the team were able to monitor and track the environmental performance of the site using data captured from specialist sustainability software SmartWaste, and develop a plan to help reduce its carbon footprint. Initiatives included: the design and maintenance of planters to absorb carbon dioxide and support the mental wellbeing of its residents; the use of a water butt as an alternative to tap water from the mains supply; encouraging switching off devices and engines whilst not in use to reduce energy consumption and emissions; and promoting sustainable alternatives to plastic products.
