Jackson Civil Engineering Group for the initiative Hydrogen Fuel Cell Trial at Godmanchester Lock

To significantly reduce CO2 emissions, noise pollution and support its ambitious sustainability goals, Jackson Civil Engineering recently collaborated with the Environment Agency to explore options to replace on-site diesel generators. The 12-week ‘proof-of-concept’ trial took place at Godmanchester Lock to assess the practicality of operating a small site office and welfare setup solely on Hydrogen Fuel Cell (HFC) technology. The trial proved a huge success, demonstrating the combination of hydrogen energy, air source heat pumps and a site team focused on energy efficiency delivered measurable benefits in cutting emissions and removing noise pollution. Supporting the company’s drive to improve energy efficiency across all sites, the trial has delivered huge benefits for local community, environment and local ecology and is expected to be replicated on future projects.
