Eurovia Infrastructure Ltd, for the initiative: “Warm mix asphalt monitoring using thermal imaging technology”

Championing the use of sustainable materials, Eurovia Infrastructure has raised the standards of quality assurance by validating the use of Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) as a low carbon high-performance material for road surfacing applications. Working jointly with Ringway and Highway Data Systems, the team deployed an innovative digital visualisation system to monitor the risk of environmental conditions on the performance of the material throughout the installation process. Capturing data from multiple sensors, including: environmental monitoring; thermal profiling; and thermal scanning, the team validated the use of WMA in real-time. The project has reassured its client by verifying the use of WMA as a high-performance material, and demonstrated the use of automated quality assurance technology for the construction of longer lasting and carbon friendly highways schemes.
