Eurovia Infrastructure Ltd for the initiative Surfacing Apprenticeship Scheme

Helping sustain the future of its industry and inspire the next generation into road surfacing career, Eurovia together with Telford College have developed, launched and successfully recruited into the Road Surfacing Operatives Apprenticeship. Since the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education approved the programme in July 2019 there had been no uptake. The newly developed apprenticeship launched by Eurovia involves practical onsite training with Eurovia surfacing teams, combined with classroom training at Telford College. Having developed the course with specialist surfacing supplier Wirtgen, it covers a range of topics from health and safety, regulations and equipment. The initiative has laid the foundations for aspiring professionals to enter the industry, and has helped bridge the skills gap to support the future of road surfacing in the UK.
