Balfour Beatty Construction Services UK, Regent Street Flyover for the initiative “Inspiring the next generation with a children’s book”

To inspire children to consider a career in construction Balfour Beatty’s (BB) has launched a series of books aimed at 6-10 year olds based on its Regent Street Flyover Project. Titled ‘Cones and Building Bridges’ the books look at a different aspect of construction and tackles subjects such as safety, sustainability, diversity and inclusivity. Battling through COVID-19 lockdowns many local schools had ceased their employment and skills programmes to focus on transitioning to online learning, so BB wanted to contribute to its relaunch. With the support of the Lord Mayor of Leeds the books were launched and to date 5,000 copies have been ordered with 1,600 copies donated across 11 schools and 5 local charities, leaving behind a lasting impression for children in the region.
