Alexis Massey, Wernick Hire Ltd, for the initiative: “Net Zero by 2040”

Placing the Wernick Group on a fast-track to net zero, in just one year Alexis Massey has transformed the company’s environmental roadmap by spreading carbon consciousness into everyday business processes. Recognising the value of informed decision-making, Alexis gathered data from across the company to align processes and operations with the company’s net zero goals. Identifying and driving improvements, Alexis’ initiatives included: improved energy use by installing LED lighting, voltage optimisation units and solar panels; upgraded offices to achieve an EPC B rating; transitioned its fleet to electric vehicles; and raised awareness among staff, helping them understand their role in sustainable action. Monthly data collection and performance metrics are now an everyday practise, creating a culture of vigilance among staff, whilst fostering healthy competition between teams.
